IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICE LAW IMPLEMENTATION
Program Description: The ignition interlock is an electronic breath-monitoring device installed by court order on the ignition system of vehicles driven by persons convicted of DUI offenses. The device requires a breath test to start and periodically to continue operation of a vehicle.
If a driver has violated the program requirements by testing positive for alcohol , the Department of Highway and Motor Vehicles is notified and will order the driver to visit a DUI program to participate in one of the following program requirements:
- To participate in an Ignition Interlock Device Program Orientation to review program requirements.
Cost: $25.00
- If the driver has violated the program requirements by testing positive for alcohol two or more times, they will be required to participate in a program review, the development of a case management plan, and monthly monitoring appointments to track their compliance with the Ignition Interlock program requirements.
Cost: $55.00 for interview and preparation of the case management plan plus $25 per monthly monitoring appointment.
